McAfee Global Solutions Lab
Statement of Privacy:
The McAfee Global Solutions Lab, and our Affiliates, recognize the increased
importance of electronic commerce and the growth of the Internet as a part of
everyday business transactions. As a world leader in network security and
intrusion prevention solutions, we understand and appreciate your need to
control your personal data as you take advantage of the Internet. That's why we
maintain strict internal policies concerning your privacy.
What data is collected?
Your name, business email, company name, location, phone number, grant number
and partner/reseller name, scenarios taken, progress in the given scenario and
the results of any assessments or evaluations.
What will it be used for?
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- To send a computer-generated welcome letter upon registration containing
instructions and login information to access the McAfee Global Solutions Lab.
- To contact you in the event clarification is needed for a given request.
- To alert you to changes to scenarios, such as the availability of new
versions and betas.
- To enable an automatic tracking mechanism for your own reference, i.e.
enable you to start, save and restart scenarios, review your progress, and
keep track of your progress.
- For the McAfee Global Solutions Lab management to review and understand
what scenarios and offerings are being utilized and to refine our offering
going forward.
- Progress and Results that are selected as part of any certification
program or training incentive will be collected and available to McAfee
Global Solutions Lab management for the monitoring of any such program.
- Notifying McAfee employees and partners of your interest in products
related to the scenarios you utilize. This information may be used for sales
and marketing purposes.
Where will it be stored?
The information will be stored off-site with our service provider, MediaDefined,
in the United States of America.
Who has access?
McAfee Global Solutions Lab System Administrators, McAfee Channel Account
Managers, and MediaDefined.

Usage Policy:
1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to define standards for
connecting to the McAfee Global Solutions Lab from any host located outside the
lab. These standards are designed to minimize the potential exposure to McAfee,
Inc. from damages which may result from unauthorized use of McAfee, Inc.
resources. Damages include the loss of sensitive or company confidential data,
intellectual property, damage to public image, damage to critical McAfee, Inc.
internal systems, etc.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all individuals that connect to the McAfee Global Solutions
Lab from a McAfee, Inc.-owned or personally-owned computer or workstation. This
policy applies to all connections used to connect to and utilize the McAfee
Global Solutions Lab infrastructure and covers any utilization of resources
therein.
3.0 Policy 3.1 General Use and Ownership
- While McAfee, Inc. and the McAfee Global Solutions Lab Administrators desire to
provide a reasonable level of privacy, users should be aware that the individual
configurations they create on the McAfee Global Solutions Lab systems remains the
property of McAfee, Inc.. McAfee, Inc. and its Global Solutions Lab Administrators
cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information in-transit to or stored on
any Global Solutions Lab resource
- It is recommended that any information that is considered to be sensitive or
proprietary not be stored on any Global Solutions Lab systems.
- For security and network maintenance purposes, authorized individuals within
McAfee, Inc. may monitor equipment, systems, sessions and network traffic at any
time.
- McAfee, Inc. reserves the right to audit and or log system activity and
network traffic on a periodic basis to ensure compliance with this or any other
policies.
3.2 Security
- It is the responsibility of McAfee, Inc. employees, contractors, vendors and
agents with connections to the McAfee Global Solutions Lab to ensure that their
connection is given the same consideration as the user's connection to the
McAfee, Inc.COE environment.
- All users are expected to keep passwords secure and not to share Global
Solutions Lab accounts. Authorized users are responsible for the security of their
passwords and accounts and will be held accountable for all related activity.
- Personal use of the McAfee Global Solutions Lab or use that is not directly
related to the support or training of McAfee Products as outlined in scenario
and course documentation is prohibited, unless explicitly permitted in writing
by the Product or Operations Manager of the McAfee Global Solutions Lab.
3.3. Unacceptable Use
The following activities are, in general, prohibited. Under no circumstances is
any user of the McAfee Global Solutions Lab authorized to engage in any activity
that is illegal under local, state, federal or international law while utilizing
any of the McAfee Global Solutions Lab resources.
The lists below are by no means exhaustive, but attempt to provide a framework
for activities which fall into the category of unacceptable use.
System and Network Activities
- Violations of the rights of any person or company protected by copyright,
trade secret, patent or other intellectual property, or similar laws or
regulations, including, but not limited to, the installation or distribution of
"pirated" or other software products that are not appropriately licensed for use
by McAfee, Inc..
- Unauthorized copying of copyrighted material including, but not limited to,
digitization and distribution of photographs from magazines, books or other
copyrighted sources, copyrighted music, and the installation of any copyrighted
software for which McAfee, Inc. or the end user does not have an active license
is strictly prohibited.
- Exporting software, technical information, encryption software or technology,
in violation of international or regional export control laws, is illegal. The
appropriate management should be consulted prior to export of any material that
is in question.
- The unauthorized introduction of malicious programs into the network or
server (e.g., viruses, worms, Trojan horses, e-mail bombs, etc.). (Please see
Authorization
- Revealing your account password to others or allowing the use of your Global
Solutions Lab account by others.
- Using any McAfee Global Solutions Lab resources to actively engage in procuring
or transmitting material that is in violation of sexual harassment or hostile
workplace laws in the user's local jurisdiction.
- Effecting security breaches or disruptions of network communication. Security
breaches include, but are not limited to, accessing data of which Global Solutions
Lab users are not intended recipients or logging into a server or account that
the user is not expressly authorized to access. For purposes of this section,
"disruption" includes, but is not limited to, network sniffing, ping floods,
packet spoofing, denial of service, and forged routing information for
unauthorized purposes. (Please see Authorization)
- The unauthorized use of port scanning software or vulnerability/security
scanning software is strictly prohibited. (Please see Authorization)
- Executing any form of network monitoring which will intercept data. (Please
see Authorization)
- Circumventing user authentication or security of any host, network or
account.
- Interfering with or denying service to any user of the McAfee Global Solutions
Lab.
- Using any program/script/command, or sending messages of any kind, that
interferes with, or disable, a user's session or system access.
- Installing any application that is capable of generating network traffic
that may potentially compromises the integrity or the availability of the McAfee
Global Solutions Lab infrastructure.
Email and Communications Activities
- Sending ANY email messages. This includes but is not limited to the sending
of personal, junk/spam, and advertising email which is not authorized. (Please
see Authorization)
- Any form of harassment via email, whether through language, frequency, or
size of messages.
- Unauthorized use, or forging, of email header information. (Please see
Authorization)
- Creating or forwarding "chain letters", "Ponzi" or other "pyramid" schemes of
any type.
4.0 Authorization
Due to the nature of the McAfee, Inc. product suite, it may from time to time be
necessary to run or utilize applications and content that is in direct violation
of the defined usage policy for the McAfee Global Solutions Lab. These
applications or content would more commonly be known as viruses, worms, Trojans,
dialers, crackers, key loggers, scanners or any other type of application or
content of questionable intent or items that have been identified by AVERT as a
Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP). While these types of applications and
content are strictly prohibited without prior authorization, users can obtain
permission to run such applications. Permission to run and utilize applications
and content of this nature can only be granted by the McAfee Global Solutions Lab
Operations Manager (Brett Neilson) or Product Manager (Justin Drummond-Murray)
and must be received in writing prior to their use.
5.0 Enforcement
- Any user determined to be in violation of any McAfee policy or is considered
to be involved in questionable activities or behavior could have their session
terminated and their account and future access privileges revoked.
- The McAfee Global Solutions Lab Administrators will involve local, state,
federal and international law enforcement agencies as deemed necessary.
- McAfee Global Solutions Lab Administrators, reserve the right to terminate any
session and/or revoke and or temporarily deny access to Global Solutions Lab
resources for any reason without notice.
